ELMIRA HEIGHTS CSD
ANTI-BULLYING TASK FORCE

STOP THE BULLYING!

About the Task Force:

The Elmira Heights Central School District aims to provide its students and staff with an educational setting that is safe, secure, and free from student harassment, also known as bullying. Our district's mission includes our belief that "All students develop attitudes and skills necessary to function as an integral part of an ever-changing society; a positive, safe and nurturing environment is necessary for learning; and the entire community is critical for the success of the educational program."

Recent events involving bullying (including cyberbullying) in both the local and national communities have prompted our district to review its current policies and practices in these areas. Both the district and the community recognize that bullying can have long-term effects on an individual's self-esteem and mental health. Children who are bullied are unable to concentrate on school. It can wreck their education and destroy their confidence. If bullying is not addressed the consequences can be destructive and even deadly. Addressing bullying will help our schools become safer places. A safer school means a better environment for learning and students who will feel confident and secure.
