Mr. Michael F. Gill
Mr. Gill proudly serves as the Superintendent of Schools for Elmira Heights Central School District, entering the 2025–2026 school year with positive energy and deep optimism for what lies ahead. Across the district, the efforts and dedication of the past several years are coming to life—in classrooms, on stages, in athletic arenas, and throughout every corner of our schools. From newly renovated facilities to stronger instructional practices, we are seeing the true impact of long-term planning and hard work. This year promises to be one of celebration, growth, and renewed momentum, as students and staff dive deeper into Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), fueling collaboration, engagement, and academic excellence at every level. As Mr. Gill often says—channeling his favorite coach, Ted Lasso—“Believe!” It’s a simple word, but a powerful reminder that optimism, heart, and teamwork can move us forward in incredible ways.
Working in close partnership with the Board of Education, Mr. Gill is proud of the collaborative leadership that defines Elmira Heights CSD. Together, they have advanced a clear vision for student success, fiscal responsibility, and community engagement. This partnership has led to the successful passage of multiple budgets, the launch of major capital projects, and the district’s continued progress in academic growth, safety enhancements, and operational excellence. Mr. Gill deeply values the Board's commitment to shared governance and the ongoing pursuit of educational equity and opportunity for all learners.
This role holds special meaning for Mr. Gill, who began their educational career in Elmira Heights. For the first decade of their professional journey, they served as the high school’s visual arts teacher, coach, advisor, and proud member of the Heights staff. Those early years built lasting connections and a deep appreciation for the unique spirit of this community. Returning as superintendent is more than a professional milestone—it’s a homecoming filled with gratitude and purpose.
Whether cheering from the sidelines at athletic events, applauding performances in our auditoriums, or visiting classrooms across the district, Mr. Gill loves every opportunity to stay connected with students, staff, and families.
